For the Netflix series based on the Kiss nightclub tragedy, directed by Júlia Rezende, we were invited to answer a delicate and essential question: which aesthetic and narrative elements could respectfully and deeply convey the atmosphere of mourning left by a devastating fire, along with the anguish and sense of injustice experienced by the victims’ families?

The Aesthetics of Grief

Guided by this challenge, we carried out a sensitive process of research and systematization of visual guidelines capable of translating those emotions into aesthetic concepts — exploring tones, visual rhythms, compositions, and atmospheres that evoke silence, absence, and the persistence of pain.
Beyond guiding decisions in art direction, cinematography, and narrative language, the work also influenced storytelling tools that shaped the script itself, creating greater fluency between the creative and technical teams.

"A gateway that opens within the creative process. The language research acts as both a creative accelerator and a translator of what I envision for the film. It’s a source of inspiration for the entire team — from the screenwriter to the cinematographer and art director."
